Blogimony

Today I celebrate my blogaversary. I knew nothing of the blogging world one year ago today, nothing. I didn’t know what a widget was, I thought a plugin was air freshener. But God knew! He knew that I could speak to wonderful people in Bulgaria, China, South Africa and Ireland all from the stroke of a key. God knew that language would not be a barrier to spreading His Word and encouraging others in places where His Word is illegal. He knew that His love is not bound by my limited knowledge of writing or technology. He knew that there are hurting teenagers in Germany that needed to know that they are not alone. He knew that there was a need to shed His Light across this dark world wide web. He knew that people feeling stuck, could hear the Gospel message through a blog post to get unstuck! So this is my blogimony, how God used an unlikely writer (that is me) to share His uninhibited power (that is Him) with an unbelievable audience (that is you)!

Every piece in my testimony (blogimony) involves His sovereignty. You are a treasured part of what God is doing in my plan. As a reader, you take in what is said and make decisions to view, to comment, to share, to like or to trash. You are central to my testimony and I thank you. So what is God putting on your heart that is unfamiliar and uncomfortable? Just as I was facing a blank computer screen accompanied by a stirring in my soul, God is calling you Beloved. He is calling you to greatness beyond comprehension. You may be tempted to think “no, that couldn’t be“. You may try and convince yourself that you are “not the right person for the job“. You may even be wondering what “other people would think“. All of these private ramblings, though normal, are not helpful. A better thing to ask yourself is this, “what if it is part of God’s plan and I don’t do it?” Yep, that is the question that gets me every time.

The beauty of the body of Christ, the church, is that we are all created with diverse gifts aligning with unity in Jesus. It’s inspiring when you think about the fact that His call on your life is not duplicated anywhere in the world. Yes, of course their may be others doing similar things but God’s conversation with you is completely YOUnique to YOU! You may not be called to blogging, after all if we were all doing the same thing that would be redundant and horribly inefficient.

I have discovered something truly wonderful about God’s calling. Usually the goals He plants in my heart end up producing amazing fruit in other areas of my life that I didn’t know would be related. When I first started blogging I had no idea that this would be beneficial to the clients I see in counseling. I had no idea that it would make my conversations with my sons more relatable. I had no idea that it would build a platform for the Gospel. I had no idea that I would be in His Word more. His plans always multiply just like the loaves and the fishes.

If you are willing to step out in faith and obey, He will blow your mind, fill your heart and bless your family. Here’s the thing, with God it’s never a “one and done” kind of calling. Just look at all the folks that followed Him in the bible. Following God is a never ending adventure filled with unexpected ups and downs that blend together to form a magnificent tapestry. He gives us purpose. This purpose annihilates hopelessness. He gives us love. This love casts out fear. God is the single best anti-depressant in the world, He NEVER fails.

We are all made for ministry. We are all made in His image. We are all given gifts according to His purpose. I hope you’ll use the comment section to share what God has placed on your heart so that I can cover your goal in prayer!
